Kaizer Chiefs have named Brandon Petersen as captain for their Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele FC at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The match kicked off at 17:30 on Sunday, 6 September 2026, with Chiefs looking to continue their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 league campaign.

Petersen starts in goal and leads a Chiefs side featuring Dillan Solomons, Zitha Kwinika, Inácio Miguel and Thabo Moloisane in defence.

In midfield, Lebohang Maboe and Siphesihle Ndlovu start, while Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi and Mfundo Vilakazi provide attacking support for Wandile Duba.

Midfielders: Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Mduduzi Shabalala, Pule Mmodi, Mfundo Vilakazi

Siwelele Starting XI

Siwelele have selected Samukelo Xulu in goal.

The starting defence includes Yandisa Mfolozi, Thabiso Sesane, Siyabonga Ndebele and Aphiwe Baliti.

Katlego Mokhuoane, Shadrack Kobedi and Vincent Pule feature in midfield, while Blessing Thulo, Sphesihle Jeza and Hamza Issah lead the attacking line.

Chiefs Looking to Maintain Unbeaten Start

Chiefs entered the match looking to extend their unbeaten beginning to the 2026/27 Premiership campaign. The club had confirmed before kickoff that this would be their fifth league match of the season.

The fixture is also the third league meeting between Chiefs and Siwelele, with the corresponding match last season ending 0-0.

For Chiefs, playing at Dobsonville adds another layer to the fixture after the club had to change venues because FNB Stadium was unavailable. The club confirmed the Soweto venue after several alternatives were considered.

A Close Look at the Goalkeeping Decision

Petersen’s inclusion is also notable given the recent scrutiny surrounding his performances.

With the goalkeeper wearing the captain’s armband, Chiefs have clearly backed him to lead the side in an important league fixture.

His performance will consequently be one of the talking points as the match develops.

What to Watch

The midfield battle could prove important, with both teams looking to establish control and create opportunities for their attacking players.

For Chiefs, the combination of Shabalala, Mmodi and Vilakazi gives the home side several creative options behind Duba.

Siwelele, meanwhile, will look to their front three of Thulo, Jeza and Issah to put pressure on the Chiefs defence.

The match remains live at Dobsonville Stadium, with the latest score and match developments available above.
