Real Native FC Begin New Motsepe Foundation Championship Era Against Cape Town City
Real Native FC will see out a new era in the Motsepe Foundation Championship as they face Cape Town City FC at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The match, which kicks-off at 15:00 on 21 August 2026, will see the Mpumalanga-based club begin their 2026/27 campaign against a fellow promotion challenger.
The tie will prove a special encounter for Real Native fans as it will mark the first league match under the new name of the club which was rebranded from Casric Stars ahead of the new season.

The name change certainly will not be the only difference as the club which finished fourth in the 2025/26 season prepare for their second successive campaign in the second tier of South African football.

Teenage defender Teboho Lekhatla has made a big move overseas, joining giants Mamelodi Sundowns after a magnificent display in the second division.
According to reports, the left-back has made 25 league appearances this season and has grown to become a first-choice centre-back in the senior team.
Lekhatla’s exit, therefore, presents an early opportunity for the newly renamed Real Native to prove that they can move on from their promotion charge last season.

Goalkeeping update

Former Stellenbosch FC custodian Oscarine Masuluke and Tokollo Makgolane were seen training with the club’s technical staff as the coaching staff looked to address their options between the posts.
Masuluke and Makgolane, however, had not signed formal contracts at the time of the publication, and their inclusion must not be anticipated on Friday.
The visitors’ goalkeeping situation was also under review as Wandile Mthombeni made his move to Siwelele FC.
Mthombeni was one of the standout players in the Nedbank cup as the Casric Stars stunned Orlando Pirates to lift the trophy on penalties.
